            The recent demonstrations in Egypt have rocked world markets and sent investors scrambling for the exits. It&apos;s not without reason. A possible revolution in the most populous and influential nation in the Arab world shouldn&apos;t be taken lightly given the possibility of an anti-Western government coming to power in Cairo.

            According to the recently published report, Egypt Agribusiness Report Q4 2010, from Research and Markets, Egypt remains dependent on imports to meet demand in almost all agricultural sectors. In order to increase its longer-term food security, the country has been increasingly looking abroad, thereby joining the worldwide trend of import-dependent countries investing in farmland in foreign countries.

          <description>
            THE Egyptian market has re-emerged as an important importer of Australian beef.
And for Wellard Rural Exports, its re-emergence has been well-timed given the current uncertainty created by new import restrictions in Indonesia.
The Indonesian government has reduced the number of import permits issued as it tries to match its domestic demand with import numbers.
Only cattle weighing up to a maximum of 350 kilograms are now being imported.

            Egypt - Live poultry ban
          </title>
          <description>
            As of 1 July 2010, a ban on the selling of live poultry, which was in place since May 2009 across only five governorates in Egypt, will be implemented nationwide.
Head of the Poultry division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce Abdel-Aziz El-Sayed said that instating a ban on selling live poultry will only be effective if all stakeholders cooperate.
&amp;quot;If they [different stakeholders] don&apos;t cooperate, this law will be mere talk,&amp;quot; Mr El-Sayed told Daily News Egypt.
