            Bhutan - Avian flu is back 
          </title>
          <description>
             The Bhutanese veterinary authorities have reported five new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza at various backyard poultry farm adjacent to the national highway in Chhukha district.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 4 on Friday, 2 March. 

A total of 1405 birds were found susceptible to the outbreak, out of which 60 cases were identified. 36 deaths were recorded, while a total of 1361 birds were destroyed. 

The source of the outbreaks has still not been identified.

            A poultry owner is Trashigang is awaiting news of what actually killed 386 hens of 720 in his poultry farm between 27 April and 29 May this year, reports Kuensel Online. 
&amp;quot;Not a single hen died in the first three months of the year,&amp;quot; said the farm manager, Chandra Bahadur Thapa. Then, on 27 April, 35 hens died. It is the highest number of deaths in the farm since it was established in September 2007.
