            Belgium - Animal feed and drug companies on the back foot
          </title>
          <description>
            Today, most poultry producers are aware of the need to decrease the use of antimicrobial drugs because of growing consumer demand and governmental pressure to raise poultry without antibiotics. Concerns about antibiotic resistance have also urged the poultry industry to seek other alternatives for managing poultry production.

            Belgium - Dragging their feet on caged hens
          </title>
          <description>
            Eurogroup for Animals strictly condemns the suggestion of Belgium to allow a six-month &apos;period of grace&apos; for egg producers following the introduction of the barren battery cage ban on 1 January 2012, which is in breach of the European Directive. In answer to a parliamentary question, Minister Onkelinx suggested that she could grant producers who have not changed to another system a six-month extension. This is not allowed, the Directive is very clear – from 1 January 2012, chickens cannot be kept in barren battery cages under any condition. Producers have already had 12 years to comply with this law.

            Belgium - Landside logistics for perishable supply chains in the spotlight at Cool Logistics 2011
          </title>
          <description>
            Shipment from origin to port and port to final destination are among the most challenging dimensions of international perishable transport. What happens at either end of long-haul ocean or air transit can make or break cold chain integrity, with significant impact for product out-turn, shelf life and retail value. As the global perishable trades continue to grow in scope and complexity, the cost and availability of landside handling, storage and transport will be increasingly crucial to total supply chain performance.
