            Australia - Tallow prices pushed by palm oil
          </title>
          <description>
            Tallow prices continued to edge higher in February despite the high A$ – now averaging 37% higher against the US$ than a year earlier – with 1% FFA (free fatty acid) tallow up 14% in February year-on-year, at $684/tonne ex works.
Improving prices were assisted by lower production, with Australia adult cattle slaughter back 8% so far this year, and a steep increase in the price of palm oil (a substitute). Palm oil averaged 67% higher in February than a year earlier at US$770/tonne FOB Malaysia (MLA’s Monthly Co-products Monitor)
