Ireland - Store cattle prices come back
08 Sep 2012
Prices for plain store cattle fell by €10-30/hd at marts this week as the weather took its toll on the trade.
Farmer buyers were reluctant to buy store cattle and house them so early in the year.
However, quality animals enjoyed price increases in places in the past week, notably in Ballinakill.
Meanwhile, the sheep mart trade is holding firm despite an increase in the number of sheep on offer each week.
Ewe hoggets sold for €100-170/hd in the past week, while older breeding ewes sold for €100-140/hd.
