Australia - 15% drop in lamb yardings
15 Sep 2012
The number of lambs offered at markets reported by MLA’s NLRS decreased 15% this week, continuing the tighter supplies registered so far throughout August.
Offerings declined across each of the eastern states; however the largest contraction was in WA which more than halved. NSW supply decreased 10%, while Victoria and SA consignments were both 14% lower respectively.
Lamb quality continues to be impacted by the winter weather, with competition sluggish.
The majority of new season lambs are coming out of NSW and Victoria, with reports of quality being sound, despite the recent rain and cool conditions experienced in the south.
