Ireland - Dan Brown of Dawn Meats
04 Feb 2012
"We'd love to have 50pc more cattle to process." That was the reaction of Dawn Meats
founder Dan Browne to the question of who should pay for the expansion of dairy processing infrastructure.
Mr Browne said farmers would not accept having to pay for expansion in beef processing but factories would be glad of the cattle. On the question of beef price, he said cattle coming from the dairy herd would not be worth as much as those from the suckler herd, but he insisted that markets existed for the beef.
