Australia - Beef plants hungry for cattle
29 Oct 2012
Cattle yarded at physical markets across the eastern states predominately sold to processors this week, with around 50% of the offerings going to slaughter.
Processor orders in Queensland accounted for 53% of the market this week, while restockers purchased only 28%, illustration of the impact of drier conditions across many regions.
Processors purchased 57% of total yarding in NSW, while in Victoria 90% were purchased for slaughter, with 17% dairy cattle.
SA was similar, as process orders dominated purchases, accounting for close to 80% of total throughput at physical markets this week.
