Entries close next week for the Beef South West show.
This event opens the season's prime-stock showing circuit with many well-known producers already entered under Yorkshire judge Frederick Fairburn.
ABP Food Group is offering £500 for the championship.
Beef South West, to be held at Westpoint, Exeter, on November 8, is also hosting the inaugural South West Young Beef Farmer of the Year competition.
The winner will receive a cheque for £250 with the runner-up and third place awarded £150 and £100, respectively. Entries close on September 30.
Beef South West is also hosting Speakers Corner, where producers can listen to and question industry leaders on specific topics. Trade stand space has been selling fast with exhibitors from all over the country booking.
