Nine vendors sold 57 bulls for an average of $6327, with 87pc of the draft selling under the hammer.
Rosevale Santa Gertrudis Stud principals, the Greenup family, paid the top money of $36,000 for Wightfields Downpour from Geoff Goodland’s Wightfields Santa Gertrudis Stud at Wandoan.
At 23-months, Downpour boasted some impressive genetics, having been sired by Greenup Downpour, who was purchased by Mr Goodland from the Eidsvold Station Santa Stud for $27,500 three years ago.
Downpour also had good genetics on his mother’s side, with his PTIC dam, having had six calves in six years.
Downpour weighed in at 784kg and recorded an EMA of 122sq.cm, a scrotal measurement of 40cm and an average daily gain of 1.09kg.
The Hindle family’s Bullamakinka Santa Gertrudis Stud also recorded a strong sale, selling Bullamakinka G24 for $26,000 to SM Michell and MK Smith, Spring Plains, Wee Waa, NSW.
A son of Canowindra Gold Edition, 26-month-old G24 weighed 1040kg and had an EMA of 133sq.cm and a scrotal measurement of 41cm.
The Hindle family retained a semen share in the bull.
Another Canowindra Gold Edition son, Bullamakinka G52, also impressed the sixty registered buyers and attracted strong bidding before selling to Andrew and Angela Doering, Strathdarr, Moree, NSW, for $20,000.
23-month-old G52 weighed 972kg and had one of the highest EMAs in the draft at 142sq.cm and scrotal measurement of 42cm.
Other sales of note included 24-month-old, Wightfields Zinzan, who sold for $14,000 to Cyril Gauld, Bethlee, Drillham while the massive, 30-month-old, 1018kg, Valleyview Gunner, offered on account of Gavin and Leanne Ciesiolka, Valleyview Santa Gertrudis, Oakey, sold to Andrew Sutton, Bundabar, Glenmorgan, for $13,000.
The volume buyer of the sale was the Simmons family, Avon Downs, Clermont, who purchased nine bulls averaging $6055.
Christiansen Cattle Co, Campo Santo, Taroom purchased three bulls averaging $4000 while Geoff and Meg Becker, Willeroo, Baralaba, chased quality throughout the sale and eventually took home three bulls averaging $6000.
