WAFarmers have partnered with Western Australian Police, Crime Stoppers WA and WFI in a bid to reduce livestock theft throughout regional WA.
The campaign is an opportunity for people to share information about offenders or, in some cases, provide evidence which may lead to an arrest.
WAFarmers president Dale Park said, “If large numbers of stock go missing, it clearly takes planning, collaboration and a degree of skill to prevent getting caught".
"The implications of this type of theft can be absolutely devastating for farmers, causing families enormous financial pressures.
“Every piece of information is valuable. WA Police need information from the public and from within the industry to be able to target offenders that steal not only livestock, but also farm equipment," Mr Park said.
In an effort to raise awareness of the increase in livestock theft, Crime Stoppers are hosting a statewide “phone-in day” on Wednesday September 5.
All calls to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously to 1800 333 000, where rewards may be offered if the information leads to an arrest.
“WAFarmers supports this campaign in its initial year by encouraging members to come forward with information which may assist other farmers within regional communities,” Mr Park said.
