Australia - Five cattle studs join forces

02 Nov 2012

FIVE highly successful interstate stud operations will host their second annual Golden West Longreach Bull Sale on Friday, October 26, at the Longreach saleyards commencing at 10am.

Selling agents Grant Daniel Long in conjunction with Australian Topstock will conduct their central western Queensland fixture, which promises a catalogue of 114 quality entries comprising Angus, Black Santa Gertrudis, Santa Gertrudis, Senepol/ Charolais and Red Angus/ Senepol bulls.

Grant Daniel Long auctioneer Mark Duthie said that, given their inaugural success when bulls sold well on the back of strong demand, he expects this year's sale to fire.

"We have had good inquiry, plenty of positive feedback from buyers who sourced bulls last year and additional interest from commercial producers who intend to operate this time around," Mr Duthie said.

Interstate vendors include Stephen and Noeleen Branson, Banquet Angus, Mortlake, Victoria, and Corey and Prue Ireland, Irelands Angus, Wagga Wagga, NSW, who have catalogued 50 Angus bulls between them.

Neil and Rosalie Watson, Watasanta stud, Tamworth, NSW, have entered 11 Santa Gertrudis and 17 black, polled Santa Gertrudis bulls which are two years old and backed by outstanding pedigrees and performance.

A quality draft of Red Angus/Senepol composite bulls has been entered by Robert and Bernadette Close, Kurra-Wirra Red Angus/Senepol stud, Culla, Victoria, and Peter Clonan of Cobrabald Genetics at Gulargambone, NSW, has the final run of Senepol/ Charolais-cross bulls, which will sell as lots 105-114.
