A BEEF producer forum planned as part of the 25th Anniversary Wilangi Invitation Brahman Sale at Charters Towers will be of immense value to Northern cattle producers as they consider future marketing options for their product, and also issues of mining exploration and activity on grazing lands, say organisers.
The forum will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, November 29 at Dalrymple Saleyards, Charters Towers, during the first day of the two-day Wilangi 25th sale event.
"It's a very special sale event for us and a significant milestone in the Northern cattle industry," said Ron White, Wilangi Brahman Stud.
"So we decided, as part of the sale celebrations, to put together a strong forum for beef producers with leading speakers on subjects beneficial to Northern beef enterprises."
Speakers at the forum include Meat and Livestock Australia's Europe and Russia market analyst, Ben Larkin, who will speak on the exciting potential and opportunity of the EU market to northern cattle producers; Ben Maher, private client manager for Mort and Co, who will outline the performance of Brahman cattle in lotfeeding and the benefits of using better bloodlines; and Michael Clive, Crosby Brosnan and Creen Lawyers, Townsville, who will give an address on the rights of graziers when negotiating with mining companies and also on succession planning.
All cattle industry participants are welcome at the forum, and admission is free.
This year's Wilangi Invitation Brahman Sale 25th anniversary is shaping up as one of the feature beef industry events of northern Australia for 2012.
The November 29-30 program includes the stud sire and herd bull auction sale of 300 lots, a new high-quality purebred commercial Grey Brahman heifer sale of 200 head (half-deck lots), the NAB 25th Anniversary Wilangi Sale Dinner, as well as the Beef Producer Forum.
The Wilangi Invitation Brahman Sale started as the first private vendor stud cattle sale at Dalrymple Saleyards in 1988 and is now Australia's leading Grey Brahman sale selection.
