Cattle Council of Australia – The Plan (aka – Using Voodoo to Survive Extinction)

At last the latest instalment of “The Plan” from the aristocratic machinations of CCA is available from their specially designed website.

This ‘Tell All’ (sarc) document is mostly garnered information from a ‘Telephone Survey’with the help of MLA (The Ghost Busters – who else would you call when you have no idea who you represent) into the thoughts of some 675 Cattle producers of grass-fed Cattle and apparently from including “Following public and industry forums and workshops,………….”.

In summary, they got their Ghost Busters to do 675 telephone calls and had some unannounced public and industry forums in some unidentified workshops.

So what exactly did the Kings of self-preservation actually say ?  Short answer…………SFA…….but I digress.

The closest we get to ‘Producer Identification’, but only for “development and implementation of sector policy purposes” and not for ‘Levy Paying’ or transactional purposes, is found on page 10 of ‘The Plan’where it states:

“Provide a mechanism for direct communication and engagement with grass fed levy payers in the development and implementation of sector policy”

The issue of Trading Entity Identification for the purposes of identifying levy payers and for transactional purposes is not negotiable for United Stockowners of Australia and is proposed in our restructure document.

So what did ‘The Plan’ reveal about the ‘New Structure’ ?

On page 4 we have – “> A new representative structure that directly engages with producers and facilitates wide and ongoing consultation;”

On page 6 we have – “3. Consideration of various industry structures that would best support the strategy’s delivery (initially running in parallel with phase two), the outputs of which were derived from stakeholder consultation.”

On page 9 we have – “> Industry must reinvent its representative structure, delivering a more inclusive, suitably resourced and accountable model for grassfed beef producers. The new structure must better enable two-way communication with grassfed beef producers on all issues associated with their industry, including trade, consumer marketing, research and development, animal health and welfare, economics, planning and corporate affairs.”

On page 10 we have – “> Success of a renewed representative structure will be dependent on its ability to demonstrate to all audiences, from beef producers, State Farming Organisations, industry groups, politicians, the media and the general public, that the beef cattle industry is sustainable, responsible and is continuing to develop strong demand for its products”

What did the ‘The Plan’ reveal about any funding of the ‘New Structure’ ? – Unfortunately ‘The Plan’ reveals not a solitary word.  Must be going to be a surprise !!

What ‘The Plan’ did reveal however, in the most arrogantly unhinged and boring detail, is how the Kings of self-perseveration are going to cling onto, until their dying breath, the Meat Industry Strategic Planfor all its worth, which was $548,166.00directly to the CCA bank account for the year ending2009/10.

You see, the Red Meat Advisory Council(RMAC) are thecustodiansof the Meat Industry Strategic Plan (MISP) HOWEVER, they are also ‘Trustees’ for the ‘Net Industry Reserve Fund’(the Fund).  The Fund is established by the Commonwealth Government and has investments worth about $40,000,000.00 from which CCA draws a ‘Disbursement’year on year for its activities, which are (you guessed it), activities with respect to……… the MISP and for the year ending 2009/10 that amount was $548,166.00.

Yep…….hand meet glove !!!!!!!
