Australia - Cattle over the hook
24 Oct 2012
Over-the-hooks cattle prices have been relatively steady in recent weeks, with minimal prices changes recorded across the eastern states.
Reportedly the quality of stock offered direct has been plain, as the dry weather continues to impact feed quality.
However, well finished lines continue to be available, albeit in limited numbers.
Prices for heavy grown steers (0-2 tooth) in Queensland were unchanged this week at 312¢/kg cwt, while heavy steers in NSW were steady on last week’s levels, averaging 333¢/kg cwt.
Victoria was the only state to record a decline for the week, back 5¢/kg to average 325¢/kg cwt.
