– Statement from JR McDonald Chairman on Bindaree Beef.
Mr McDonald the chairman of Bindaree Beef , was misquoted in the Australian media in regard to a statement he made in relation to the MSA, at no time did Mr McDonald ever say they the MSA should be trashed.
What Mr McDonald did in fact say, was that there is a percentage of rubbish meat on the shelves of supermarkets and that the grading system in place at Bindaree Beef is the best way to get rid of this problem.
Mr McDonald buys his cattle grades his cattle and markets his beef to the best advantage. This is a million miles from sitting in a plush office in
Sydney
in a fancy suit and shoes, happily spending someone else’s money.
In the words of Roger Fletcher when talking about the wool board “There are too many professional board members in
Australia
”.
The
Torbay
proposals for grading beef, can be seen at The Armidale Forum on Saturday 27 February, when Mr McDonald is putting his money where his mouth is.
Bindaree claim that the
Torbay
grading proposals will give a better return to the farmer, this being the case coupled with the fact that the man is putting his money on the table, should be enough for the industry to give him a fair hearing without the sarcastic remarks.
This sounds a far more positive way of marketing beef, than grossly overpaid crude comedians or celebrity film stars.
The sting in the tail of using celebrities, is epitomized in Paul McCartney and his meatless Mondays.
Muriel Elizabeth Hayes.
