23 Aug 2012

The champion female led the way at this week's two-day show and sale of pedigree Texels at Ballymena, in Northern Ireland, selling for the top price of 11,000gns, equaling the previous NI female record in the process.

Selling for that price was a Strathbogie Python gimmer from Andrew Fyffe's Fairywater flock which sold to Michael and Melanie Alford, buying for their Foxhill flock in Devon.

Taking the second top female price of 3500gns was the reserve champion from Brian Hanthorn's Mullan flock. She is by Mullan Royal Flush, out of a dam by the 120,000gns Loosebeare Impand sold to Robin Ellis for the Elgur flock, Borthyn.

Top price amongst the males was 6000gns for Braehead Touch of Class, a tup lamb from David Warwick's Braehead flock from Ballymena, purchased by a consortium of buyers on both sides of the water.

The same stable also sold the second top priced tup lamb when Braehead The Real McCoy, a Glenside Ring A Ding-sired lamb out of a ewe by Mullan Photogenic sold for 5000gns to another consortium of buyers.
