Ukraine's State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service has imposed a ban on the imports of pigs and pork from the regions of Russia's Central Federal District.
Situated in the West of the Russian Federation, the district encompasses Moscow City and the Moscow region, as well as the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Ryazan, Tambov, Tver, Tula, and Yaroslavl regions.
According to Itar-Tass, the decision was taken pending the reports that cases of African swine fever had been registered on the territory of the district.
"As regards the imports of other Russian commodities subject to control by the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service, they should be carried out in line with veterinary requirements regarding the imports of products, for which the veterinary and sanitary control is mandatory," the report said.
