NZ - Good stock making good money
26 Aug 2012
Prime and local trade cattle are still hard to find in the Waikato, with the market maintaining considerable strength across all classes.
Ox were in short supply at Frankton on Tuesday, and some very heavy lots commanded top dollar.
Wet conditions did little to dampen a very buoyant market at Taupo last week.
With more buyers than cattle available across the country it is a real sellers' market.
Wednesday's cattle fair at Stratford saw a very strong sale across all classes of cattle, with 800 head yarded. Sheep also sold very well.
A good quality lineup of prime lambs was offered at Balclutha last Wednesday, Barry Osborne of PGG Wrightson said, and they sold at similar prices to the previous week.
A small yarding of prime ewes also maintained values with good demand.
