China - What grain shortage?
19 Jul 2012
China, the world’s second-biggest corn grower, harvested a record 192.8 million metric tons of last year, about 1 million tons more than a previous estimate, the China National Grain & Oils Information Center said.
The wheat crop was 117.4 million tons, half a million tons less than a previous estimate, the center said in an e-mailed report, citing a revision in line with figures by the National Bureau of Statistics.
It raised soybean production by half a million tons to 14.5 million tons.
The center left most of its forecasts for 2012 unchanged.
