Australia - MLA says beef prices looking up
21 Mar 2010
Meat and Livestock Australia says there are signs beef markets are beginning to recover from low prices.
A high Australian dollar and a difficult season have taken their toll on cattle prices recently.
MLA economist Tim McRae says there are signs of improvement on the horizon.
"Into 2010, we've seen some excellent rainfall through Queensland and northern NSW, so hopefully seasonal conditions are turning," he says.
"Unfortunately this dollar's staying high, but we are starting to see demand and supply in our export markets improve and that is starting to add to cattle prices."
