Scotland - Troubled Vion sacks chief executive

Image provided by Hennessy Grading Systems Vion Food Group has announced the immediate departure of Uwe Tillmann as chief executive and chairman.
 
 
 
Dirk Kloosterboer, vice-chairman, has taken over Tillmann's responsibilities.

Kloosterboer will take charge of the "accelerated and broader implementation" of the Vion strategic action plan.

"The Supervisory Board has every confidence that this adjustment to the management will ensure the successful implementation of Vion's strategic vision," says the company in a brief, terse statement.

Vion is in the process of closing its Broxburn plant in Scotland which has been losing £79,000 a day, according to its United Kingdom chairman Peter Barr.
