Meat and livestock Australia (MLA), the marketing and R&D service company of the Australian red meat and livestock industry, has appointed Mr Jamie Ferguson to the role of Regional Manager, Middle East and North Africa.
In this position, Ferguson will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the Australian red meat and livestock industries' leading market positions across the GCC, the Levant, Egypt and the Maghreb countries.
Ferguson will start his job from the company's headquarters at DAFZA, Dubai. He will be replacing Lachlan Bowtell who held the same post for the last three years during which Australian red meat and livestock exports to the region surged remarkably.
On this occasion, Ferguson said, "I'm delighted to have joined MLA as a Regional Manager for the MENA region where my predecessor, Mr. Lachlan Bowtell, nurtured steady growth over the last three years.
We will draw upon his achievements to drive constant growth in this region where local consumers and the hospitality industry have always appreciated the halal, clean, safe and gourmet attributes of Australian red meat products."
Ferguson has moved to MLA from JBS, Australia's largest meat processor and red meat exporter, where he had held a number of sales and marketing roles.
His most recent role was Business Development Manager for the Middle East based in Dubai.
Prior to this, he developed and managed a range of JBS brands in Australia.
He also spent 6 years with the world's largest cattle producer Australian Agricultural Company, both on cattle stations and the beef processing components of their business.
Ferguson also spent 18 months in the US as Sales and purchasing executive for a leading foodservice supply company.
Jamie has a beef cattle background and has a Bachelor of Agri Business and a passion for the Australian meat and livestock industry.
