Australia - Cattle Council want more money what a bloody cheek

22 Jul 2012

The Cattle Council of Australia has told top industry representatives that the current structure is unsustainable, and the peak body will cease to function unless something changes. They should start by cutting salaries and expenses of their over paid under qualifed executives.

David Inall.

It's seeking more funding from either direct voluntary contributions, or taking a part of the cattle transaction levy.

The Cattle Council knows it will be hard to access even 10 cents of every $5 collected from cattle sales, but chief executive David Inall says it has to try.

"If it turns out politically or legally or precedent-setting reasons that accessing the levy just isn't tenable, then very serious decisions are going to have to be made as to how farmer representation occurs, because we can't, we're not going to be able to be, all things to all people
