An Idaho man has been charged with writing bad checks exceeding $200,000 for cattle he received from a Snyder County farm.
Tony E. Martins, 35, of Filer, Idaho, wrote one check for more than $160,000.

He wrote a second for more than $45,000 on Oct. 8, 2009, to Creek Bottom Farms, 1510 White Church Road, Middleburg.

The checks were not honored by his Idaho-based bank because of insufficient funds in Martins’ account.

According to a criminal complaint, Martins has made no attempt to settle the debt.

The farm owners, Michael and Cassandra Snook, declined to provide further detailson Tuesday afternoon.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 29 in Middleburg.
