Latvia - Meat for Ruusia

Sixteen largest Latvian producers of meat products, as well as seven piggeries have filed a petition to the local Food-Veterinary Service of Latvia (PVD) expressing its desire to start exports of its products to Russia and possibly Ukraine.As part of continuing negotiations on the introduction of incentives for Latvian producers of meat products, seeking to export its products to Russia, a meeting of heads of PVD Marek Samokhvalov and Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Sergey Dankvert was organised.
According to Russian media, next month a group of veterinary inspectors will visit Latvia. The results of this inspection will affect the negotiations between Latvia and Russia on the recognition of producers and export benefits.
Currently, Russia remains one of the largest sales markets forLatvian meat.
