Skipton dairy farmer Jonathan Caygill has designed an easy to use cow lifter to help save increasingly valuable dairy and beef cows.

Jonathan, who milks more than 200 Holsteins in the Yorkshire Dales at Manor House Farm, Rylstone, has developed the durable and value for money Easy Cow Lift after he could not find anything else on the market for his own use to match it.
Made from a combination of recycled rubber and galvanised steel that is placed under a “downer” cow which is then lifted with pallet forks, Jonathan believes its ease of use will encourage farmers to lift cows earlier, preventing permanent paralysis, nerve and muscle damage, resulting in a more successful outcome.
“The Easy Cow Lift has strength and flexibility so it can be pulled through under the cow using pallet forks spreading the load over a wide area,” said Jonathan.
“It can be raised from either side of the cow or from the front or rear. It is easy to remove when the cow is standing.”
Simple and humane with universal operation - it fits onto pallet forks or a muck fork - the cow can be left in the raised position for long periods and can be stripped and milked.
It can be left under the cow until the next time she needs lifting or it can be easily removed when the cow is standing. It is easy to clean and store.
