Australia - Louis Toumbas in Money making scam against the meat industry

29 Jul 2012

I recall taking my mother to the ABC studios in Sydney in 1987 the meet Mike Walsh and Russ Hinze, who was the Minister of Everything in Queensland in those days.

Joh Bjelke-Petersen  with Russ Hinz

When Mike asked Russ about diverting an arterial road to get closer to a hotel he had acquired, Ruzz replied “If that was true I would have diverted the road right through the bottle shop”

At least with Sir Joe and Russ you knew where you stood and despite their faults they were both hard working “Aussie Battlers” who came from nothing and made many mistakes along the way.

This was the time of the “White Shoe Brigade” who ponced around the Gold Coast calling themselves property developers.

Louis Toumbas is now emulating the white shoe brigade in his money making scam against the meat industry. “Fat Louis” has set up a web site asking for donations to close down a leading Queensland meat works that employs hundreds of Australian families.

How the scam works is by fearmongering and cashing in on peoples ignorance over meat inspection procedures, along with false allegations about disease from livestock, despite the fact that “Fat Louis” grandparents had goats and chickens living in the house in their native Greece.

Members of the public are then asked to send donations to a trust fund on “Fat Louis” behalf.

Complete with dark glasses even on the coldest winter day, what Toumbas fails to tell the unsuspecting public is the fact he has bought land close to the meat works and the closure of the abattoir would triple his investment in value.

Toumbas like may old rogues is an active member of the church and promotes himself as a charity worker and we all know charity begins at home with these types.

We have enough real problems in the meat industry, without this type of fearmongering and scandal, that will only hurt more Australian farmers who are already doing it tough.
