The program for the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association pinnacle event BeefEx has been released.
BeefEx, which is held only once every two years on Queensland’s Gold Coast – is regarded as the lot feeding sector’s ‘shop window event’ with a program and exhibition that has the capacity to draw lot feeders and associated service industries from all over Australia.
The event runs over three days on October 9 -11 with day one kicking off with the highly competitive Lallemand Golf Tournament.
The wide-ranging program is designed to challenge and consider the big issues in the grain feeding sector, but also plays a big role in nurturing ‘emerging talent’ in the industry and as a consequence the speaking program features a number of early-career lot feeding industry professionals.
This year’s motivational speakers are adventurers “Cas and Jonesy” – made famous for their canoe ride across the Tasman and more recently their hike across Antarctica, while as is always the case, the entertainment at the Elanco Gala Dinner and Champion Liquids Feeds Finale dinner is kept a close secret to ensure delegates are surprised as well as entertained.
“Suffice to say the bar goes up every year in terms of what people expect from a BeefEx – but that’s a challenge we’re happy to accept and live up to,” says ALFA CEO Dougal Gordon.
Catherine Marriott, the current WA RIRDC rural woman of the year will delve into leadership in the workplace while RSPCA CEO Heather Neil will inform us on her first visit to a feedlot and will provide her perspective on the feedlot industry: What she learned that she didn’t know; what she thinks we do well; and what we could do better.
Celebrity chef Damian Heads, Executive Chef and owner of Pony Lounge and Dining, and Steel Bar and Grill in the Sydney CBD, will explain what celebrity chefs really think of grain fed beef and the feedlot sector.
The BeefEx program is also home to a range of awards, including the announcement of the Elanco Feedlot of the Year Award; the Phibro young lot feeder achiever award and the Pfizer Medal.
