Australia - Finest wool bale produced in Victoria

27 Mar 2010

A western Victorian ultrafine wool grower has produced the world's finest bale of wool.
The Sandlant family, of Lexton, produced an 11.4 micron bale, only the second in the world to test to those standards and the first that will go to auction.
Rob Sandlant says the family is hoping to fetch between $2000 and $3000 a kilo for the 100-kilo bale.
"You can see without even touching it that this is going to be an exceptional fleece," he says.
"It's so soft and you can just see it, as it's being shorn, it's just wonderful."
