The Southwest Grassfed Livestock Alliance (SWGLA) has scheduled a Whole Ranch Planning Series focused on applications for grass-fed livestock operations.
The series includes four two-day sessions at different New Mexico locations beginning in September.
The course will cover effective business and marketing planning, grass-fed/holistic production methods,
maximization of resources and wholesale/retail marketing opportunities.
This will include both classroom time and field days at participating ranches throughout New Mexico.
The series takes place over the span of eight months, which organizers say will allow participants to apply what they learn, set and achieve goals and receive professional feedback and peer support throughout the process.
The time span also allows for three separate ranch visits during three different growth periods: late summer, fall and early spring.
The session locations, dates and subject matter are as follows:
•September 7 and 8: Raton, New Mexico, Understanding the Whole Picture: Holistic Management and Grassfed/Local Production
•November 9 and 10: Tucumcari, New Mexico, Assessing Your Resources and Developing a Plan: Integrating Holistic Principles with Grassfed/Local Production
•January 25/26: Albuquerque, New Mexico, Financial/Grazing Planning and Grassfed/Local Marketing Options
•April 19/20: Corona, New Mexico, Putting Your Plan into Action and Achieving Your Goals: Case Studies and Innovative Approaches to Maximize Ranch-derived Revenue
More information and online registration are available from SWGLA.
