The August 2012 indexes published this week have seen World Wide Sires UK emerge with a remarkable four of the top 10 bulls ranked on Type Merit. This is streets ahead of any other company which muster a maximum of two.
These WWS bulls sum up the company’s long-held philosophy of building the type of cows that will sustain their production over a long and profitable life.
The bulls that form this leading quartet are:
• Go-Farm WWS Zoltec
• Maple-Downs-I G W Atwood
• Toc-Farm Goldfish and
• Lirr Drew Dempsey
“These are amongst the leading type bulls in the world; their Type Merits in the UK average a remarkable 3.7; and understandably, they are amongst our best sellers,” says Bryan Challenor from WWS UK. “Fads in breeding come and go, but as a company, we have remained true to our belief in having the right type at the core of any breeding strategy, and this continues to serve our customers’ businesses well.”
But in addition to transmitting outstanding daughter conformation, these four bulls are also great all-rounders, each offering well over £100 for Profitable Lifetime Index (PLI) and each excelling for daughter fertility, somatic cell counts and locomotion.
“It’s no surprise that the four bulls also have high daughter Lifespan Indexes as they transmit all of the traits known to help achieve a long and trouble-free life,” continues Mr Challenor.
“You would struggle to find a more complete package from any company in the market, and we’re delighted World Wide Sires continues to build on the high calibre stud on which we have developed our reputation.”
Other high-fliers in the August proof run include:
• Plain-O Durham Ross – the number four bull for type with UK daughters, now with 99 per cent reliability
• O-Man End-Story – the high type and powerful Oman son with exceptional PLI
• Pirolo Goldwyn Wyman – another high flier for PLI with over two points for type
• Mr Regelcreek Shot Al – a high type, high component udder improver
• Macomber O-Man Bogart – an exceptional transmitter of daughter fertility and fitness
“These are exactly the type of bulls the progressive dairy farmer is demanding and we’re delighted their indexes are standing the test of time,” continues Mr Challenor. “And reports coming back of youngstock now on the ground give us further encouragement that they are going to score well for farmer satisfaction.”
