British Sausage Week takes on a new and urgent importance this year, as British pig-keepers strive to increase demand for British pork.
It will run November 5-11 and the theme will be "Stand up for British Bangers"
The organisers will be looking for British sausages that are proud to be patriotically counted as the best of British.
From humble beginnings in 1997, British Sausage Week has grown to become a multi-channel, celebrity‐supported awareness campaign.
It attracts participation from a huge range of sectors, including schools, pubs and restaurant chains, multiple retailers, independent butchers and branded manufacturers.
Such is the drive in the industry to use the platform to promote British sausages that last year an additional £2 million of sausages was sold during the week compared to the previous four-week average.
In the run-up to British Sausage Week, manufacturers of all size, from local butchers to the big processors and retailers, are being invited to enter their best sausages in the British Sausage Week awards.
The winners will be announced during British Sausage Week, creating valuable publicity for quality British sausages — and reminding shoppers to make the most of what, for many, is Britain's most tasty, affordable, versatile and iconic food.
Closing date for entries is August 26. An entry form can be downloaded here >>>
