Germany - Russia a threat to European pig industry

19 Aug 2012

Border controls beefed up.

Germany's agriculture ministry has issued an official warning about the African swine fever outbreak in Russia and Ukraine, advising people travelling from those countries in particular not to bring pork products back into Germany.

The German ministry says controls will be stepped up at the European Union's borders and that its national contingency plans to combat the disease have been adjusted.
