Japan - Beef trade slows down
16 Jul 2012
The Japanese wholesale market reported mixed movements of imported beef items this week, as the market waits for the end of the rainy season.
Interest in Australian navel end briskets and chuck roll were reportedly firm, while US barbecue items were also in steady demand, underpinned by tight supplies.
In the Australian beef export market, reduced production this week lifted market expectations for chilled grassfed items, making Japanese buyers cautious.
Slow demand for 85CL in Japan and high inventories in the market softened bids for the product, while interest in navel brisket was unchanged.
