Australia - Charolais cattle

07 Oct 2012

TABLELAND Charolais breeders Greg and Sue Clyde-Smith, of Ballyvolane Charolais, Malanda, in far North Queensland, will be first-time vendors at the Ray White Spring Invitation Bull Sale.

"We were delighted when Kevin Currie and the team rang and offered us the invitation to market our bulls at this venue," studmaster Greg said.

The Ballyvolane sale draft includes 20 Charolais bulls aged two years, and starts with lot 112 selling to lot 131 in the catalogue.

These bulls are sons of award-winning and high-priced sale bulls such as Huntington Anson, Rosedale Archie and an AI sire LT Bluegrass (US), while their dams are selected cows from Ballyvolane herd of 100 stud breeders, which include a sprinkling of Palgrove, Rosevale, and ANC foundation bloodlines.

The sale draft includes both polled, scurred, and horned bulls.

These are the typical white Charolais coated bulls, all been bred in the Atherton Tableland environment.

Although bred in the tick area, these bulls have all been treated with three-germ, vibrio and 7-in-1 vaccines and all tested negative for pestivirus.

Natural semen tests have been carried out and will be available on sale day.
