Meat & Livestock Australia analyzed export data and broke out which markets prefer which cuts of Australian beef.
In 2011, Australian industry exported 949,195 metric tons of beef worth approximately $4.7 billion.
According to MLA, Japan and the United States are the biggest importers of Australian manufacturing beef.
South Korea is a large importer of Australian blade and cube roll, while Russia prefers silverside (bottom round), thick flank and manufacturing beef, and Taiwan buys a lot of shin/shank.
After manufacturing beef, brisket was the second most popular Australian beef cut for importers, most of which went to Japan. MLA reported brisket was one of the fastest growing cuts last year, with year-on-year growth of 15 percent.
