Blelack Matrons Sale sets new Aberdeen-Angus breed record at 32,000gns and average £5519

Neil and Graeme Massie’s Matron Sale offering from their Blelack herd of Dinnet, Aberdeenshire, saw a full capacity crowd gather on farm yesterday (7th October) to witness a strong sale from start to finish, a new breed record set at 32,000gns and an average of £5519 for 64 females sold.

Commenting on the sale Graeme Massie said: "It was a truly wonderful sale and great to see the cattle entering herds all over the UK and Ireland.  There were lots of new breeders keen to source Blelack genetics so hopefully we will see these cows go on and perform in the years to come for their new owners. The cattle were a testament to the 40 years of dedication put in by my father Neil and he shares my delight in the success of the day."

Sale leader was the May 2007-born Blelack Eyrie G197, a Nightingale Ernie B133 daughter out of Eyrie X23 of Blelack, a GV Duke 18C daughter making her full sister to the 16,000gns Blelack Eagle D895 which sold to Rae Grieve, Carlhurlie. She sold PD’d in calf to the herd’s former stock sire Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 to Ron Loftus for his Weeton herd, Preston, Lancashire.
