Bhutan - Bird flu strikes again

There has been one new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the border area with India.
The veterinary authority in Bhutan sent Follow Up Report No. 1 dated 2 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
It describes one outbreak of HPAI at Pasakha in Chhukha, close to the borden with the Indian state of West Bengal.
The outbreak started on 20 February, and involved a flock of 1,200 village poultry. Of these, three birds died and 1,091 were destroyed.
The presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus has been confirmed.
