Serbia - Swine fever confirmed

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification on 20 November 2010.
According to the report, the outbreak was first observed on 17 November, and confirmed on 19 November.
The outbreak occured at a farm in Sremski county of Vojvodina. 8196 animals were found susceptible, out of which 201 were affected. Out of this, 155 deaths were recorded.
The report states that a breeding pig farm has been quarantined; the pigs will be culled in the next few days. Epidemiological investigation is ongoing in order to identify the source of infection.
