The first in a string of Central Queensland Santa Gertrudis sales promises a particularly strong selling season for the breed.
Nearly 70 bid cards and a crowd of well over 100 attended the annual Moongana Invitation sale at the Springsure showgrounds on Monday.
Vendors represented included Bullamakinka, Moongana, Tee Vee and Kiralea studs.
Bullamakinka G22, a 24-month-old, classified, 910 kg, Canowindra Gold Edition son topped the sale at $16,000 when Darryl Waugh, Wodonga, Wandoan purchased the bull from Bullamakinka stud principal, Craig Hindle, Bungunya.
The Waugh family also paid $9000 for a second Bullamakinka classified bull.
Commercial bulls topped at $13,000.
Ashley and Doris Mackay, Torres Park, Augathella paid the top commercial dollar for the polled, Moongana F1858.
Torres Park also purchased three other Moongana bulls to average $11,000.
Chris and Eliza Fox, Cooinda Santa Gertrudis, Sunnyview, Proston paid $13,000 for a classified, Sujo Indigo son, Moongana F1846.
Volume buyer, Peter and Denise Comiskey, Lyra Park, Capella secured 17 bulls for the average price of $4600.
