New Aberdeen-Angus stock sire Logie Extra Special L136 joins Kincardine Castle in private five figure deal

Aberdeen-Angus breeders Wm Bruce and Partners, Logie Estate, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, have sold a son of their 25,000gns herd sire Blelack Lord Hildalgo H972, in a five-figure private sale to Robert McNeil’s Kincardine Castle herd, Perthshire.

Logie Extra Special L136, described by Logie stockman Andrew Reid as one of the favourites from a very impressive first string of Hildalgo sons, will now run as junior herd sire in the 60-cow herd managed by Ian and Marjory Davidson.

Speaking about the sale Ian Davidson said: “Extra Special is an incredibly correct bull with good legs and feet, his mobility is excellent. He also has a notable set of EBV’s with a TSI of +50 and SRI of +61 ranking him in the top 1% of the Angus breed.

“Not only were we impressed with the sire on the day he was purchased, but his dam line is equally strong as he is out of the Blelack Blackstaff Y288 daughter Logie Eyebright F481, a line which is breeding consistently well at Logie.”

The Logie team intend on having several Hildalgo sons forward for sale at Stirling in February, including one of Hildalgo’s first calves which was junior champion at the Black Beauty Bonanza and The Royal Highland Show.
