Australia - South Devon cattle

03 Nov 2012

SOUTH Devon Judge Andrew Green, Wagga Wagga, NSW, couldn't of been more complimentary of the stylish South Devon exhibits at the Royal Melbourne Show.

The judging may have been small in numbers, but Mr Green said the type of cattle shown would be an excellent addition to any cross-breeding herd.

Chris and Leonie Daley, The Bend South Devons, Mirboo North, won the grand champion female with the 12-month-old The Bend Glamour, with Mr Green commenting that the young heifer was feminine, well-balanced and had a good spine.

The female went on to be sashed supreme exhibit over the Daley family's grand bull, The Bend Easy Rider.

Easy Rider was a three-year-old sire weighing 1132 kilograms with an eye muscle area of 123 square centimetres.

The judge admired his power, muscle expression, depth and mobility.

He won grand champion bull over his younger stable mate and junior champion bull The Bend Goldwin.
The Daley's have been attending the Royal Melbourne Show since 1999 and haven't missed a year yet.
They were very happy with the judges comments and praise on the day.
