At a farm in Belarus, a new highly pathogenic strain of the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus has been found.
Results of a study into the new strain were made public recently by researchers of the University of Ghent, Belgium, led by Dr Hans Nauwynck. The new strain, from the sub-type 3 of European strains, is considered to cause severe clinical signs.
